Hi! I am Elizabeth Simmons Allen. While my first love is ceramics (you never forget your first love!), most of my time these days is spent on illustration. There is nothing more satisfying than figuring out how to draw something you have never drawn before. I love drawing and printing sassy animals, creepy fantasy creatures, and Founding Father mini-figures. I am excited by all things illustration and love trying new things.

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and grew up in a few places around the western United States but mostly Utah. I fell in love with ceramics while getting my BFA with a K-12 teaching certificate at Brigham Young University. I moved to Saint Louis two decades ago to earn an MFA in visual arts at Washington University in St. Louis, and I never left. I still am not used to the humidity. When not making art, I am wrangling my three children, pre-K to high school, and making googly eyes at my neglected ukulele.
